The school’s extrabudgetary funds account for 20% of the total project financing, the City of Rijeka contributes 22%, while donations from corporate partners constitute 58% of the total project financing.
The playgrounds that have been renovated so far represent only a part of the revitalized school environment. The renovation also requires the large playground, especially the trim track, which is currently out of function due to road works above the school. The plan is to install table tennis tables on the undefined plateau to give that part of the playground a purpose. All sports facilities around the school are available to all Kantrida residents outside of school hours. Considering the size of the remaining playgrounds, there is significant investment potential.

In May 2021, the school received a small donation during the opening of the promenade in front of the newly built Hilton hotel. Encouraged by this donation, we decided to initiate a project for the renovation of the school playgrounds. The outdoor area of the school is quite large and consists of three playgrounds (two smaller ones – basketball and volleyball; one larger one – mini football/handball), green areas with a park, one undefined asphalted area, and a jogging track which was at that time, due to roadworks above the school, dug up. These outdoor spaces had not seen any investment for many years and were in need of renovation.
At the end of 2021, the school allocated part of its extra-budgetary funds to install a new acrylic surface on the basketball court. With the great assistance of the Mayor of Rijeka, we started fundraising for the complete renovation of the two smaller playgrounds, which are entirely located in the part of the yard for which all property issues have been resolved. In March 2022, we received a larger donation from the company Dezinsekcija d.o.o., and donations from three more companies were announced: Dogma d.o.o., Kamgrad d.o.o., and Rio Projekti. To finally close the financial construction, we received additional funds from the company Kalmar Implant dentistry, while the City of Rijeka approved additional funds for changing the fence around one of the playgrounds.
