The total value of the EU project “Incubator for Creative Technologies and IT Industry – Energana” is 6.147.183,75 euros, of which 4.176.543,71 euros was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund – Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020” through the Integrated Territorial Investment Mechanism (ITI Mechanism), and 368.518,00 euros by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.
Through the construction of the Incubator for Creative Technologies and IT Industry, Rijeka has committed to investing in the development of IT, creative, and smart city industries, which are recognized as industries of the future. These industries are known for generating a significant number of jobs, offering above-average salaries, making a positive contribution to the gross domestic product, and fostering high levels of technological competence and research and development potential.
The business internationalization program for Incubator users will be implemented in collaboration with international entrepreneurial support institutions (ESIs). The intention is to establish long-term cooperation with interested ESIs from EU countries and beyond, which work with entrepreneurs in the field of creative technologies and the IT industry.
The reconstruction of the former power plant building includes the development of over 2,700 m² of usable space on five floors. In addition to office space, or 24 incubation units for entrepreneurs, the Sinergana space includes specialized classrooms and work spaces, multi-purpose classrooms and meeting rooms, a data center, chat rooms, a large multifunctional hall, a coworking space, and other functional and logistical facilities necessary for efficient work and a pleasant stay of users in the incubator.
Within the incubation program, Sinergana will provide users with specialized education and mentoring, education for improving entrepreneurial skills, use of workspace and equipment, thematic events and meet-ups, as well as other forms of support in three thematic modules:
• HubIT – IT, artificial intelligence, internet of things
• HubBOT – video game development
• HubART – photography and video production.
The incubator for the IT industry and creative technologies of Sinergana will be positioned as an innovation hub, i.e. a center for the development and demonstration of products and services in the field of IT, creative and ‘smart’ industries. The urban agglomeration of Rijeka thus paves the way for the development of the industries of the future, the advantages of which are manifested in the increase in the number and quality of jobs, the concentration of development and research potential and the strengthening of technological competences, as well as a positive contribution to the local economy and indicators of economic performance.
